It’s been a couple of weeks since we left Boomtown and I’m still not 100% on how to describe the Festival, I will say it’s the most immersive and entertaining festival I have visited. I think the most common term I heard all weekend was “This place is West” in the best possible way! And I know we didn’t get a chance to see everything but we also know we will be back! Boomtown is just too big and has so much to offer everyone to be able to take everything in, in one chapter. So for everyone who can only manage to read a few lines of a post looking for a review, ours for Boomtown fair would be 10 out of 10! Every festival goer must go, really! I will expand on why below for those who don’t mind a little reading. Pro’s & Con’s Pro’s Well staffed with friendly security, helpful support staff. Well planned out 10am – 4am always something going on. Spoilt for choice with food, all priced reasonably. (some 24 hours) Once through the main gates no more security checks. (Take your own drinks to stages) 25 main stages and over 80 street venues. […]
Boomtown’s tenth chapter is shaping up to be an almighty celebration of the festival’s journey over the past decade. When you think where Boomtown started to how it’s evolved into the internationally renowned festival it is today, you can tell – the machine cannot be stopped. Boomtown Fair Boomtown Fair is a four-day music festival on the second weekend of August. It started in 2009 has been held at the Matterley Estate in Hampshire since 2011, which is part of the South Downs National Park. Being invited to the festival has been an amazing eye-opener, as most of us are from far “up north” so Boomtown hadn’t really been on our festival radar with the 5+ hour drive down to Winchester. However, after watching all the Boomtown “after” films I can say we are shocked we haven’t been to Boomtown before. As you can tell we are extremely excited to be joining them for the 10th anniversary. With Boomtown being the only UK festival where you are going to see the amazing Gorillaz, and American punk rap Limp Bizkit over to reggae legend Jimmy Cliff and another 500 artists, we can safely say that the 8th to the 12th of August 2018 is […]
With literally thousands of European music festivals every year wouldn’t it be great if we had a map of all of the music festivals in Europe, to show us what was available. We enjoy most of these music festivals during the summer months, maybe with some hope that during this time we will get some nicer weather. As we know with many festivals such as Glastonbury we are much more accustomed with packing our wellies than suntan cream. As you might know, if you read our blog How to prepare for your very first music festival. However, most of the music festivals do take place during the small space of time between May to September and they are scattered all over Europe, you probably don’t even realise just how close many festivals are to you, and how many you could fit in during that time. Whether these festivals are in the deepest darkest countryside, by the seaside or in an industrial area, music festivals are usually out of the way, hard to find and not always very well advertised so we are often unsure what is going on in our area or other areas in which we would like to […]
It can be quite difficult to keep thinking of new ideas and cool gifts for people at Christmas time, socks, perfume, aftershave, can get a bit boring every year. It can, however, be so much easier if a person has a hobby as for every hobby there are always loads of stuff you can get to enhance someone’s experience of that hobby. Now you might find cool gifts for festival goers, smart gifts for nerds, or sporty gifts for tennis players but I think we will take a look at what gifts you can get for someone who frequents festivals or even the first timer, who needs to prepare for their very first music festival. You’ll actually be surprised at just how many Funky gifts for your festival goer you can find from just a few pounds. If your festival goer likes to go to festivals in the UK such as Glastonbury or …. …. … like us then they will need, all sorts of equipment to just survive the weather and keep clean (if they can be bothered trying to do that) and then there are all the fun things that you can buy. Cool Gifts for Festival Goers […]
Many people don’t know that you can actually get free music festival tickets by volunteering to help out. There are a few charities where you can volunteer to give your time do your bit for humanity helping the charity out and in return, you gain entry to the festival for free and in most cases you don’t even need experience. As you may know, music festivals take a great deal of work to put together and a great deal of staff, and because its pretty hard to turn a profit with festivals organisers often call on volunteers to help out and you get free tickets, staff benefits or other discounts. It’s a fantastic way to become part of the music community, learn how festivals are put together, meet new people, learn new skills and get time off to watch your favorite bands or DJ’s live. Where can you get free music festival tickets by volunteering? Oxfam Oxfam always have a number of positions they are looking to cover Stewards Campaigners Festival shop volunteers Looks like they are finished with festivals for this year but you can register your interest for 2018 It’s good to apply now for next year, as […]
